- Simone Morgan Wednesday, November 24, 2010 REGGAE gospel artiste Prodigal Son last Saturday launched his latest album Half Way There at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Kingston. The launch saw hundreds of well-wishers coming out to celebrate with the LIME-sponsored artiste on release of his 20-track album, which is on his own Radikal Yawd Music label. (Photos: Marlon Reid) 1/2 Setting a mood for praise and worship, the hour-long devotional period saw performances from the Emmanuel Apostolic Church's singers and dancers. Performances also came from reggae gospel crooners Dwayne Murphey, Shepherd, Jason Mighty, Dwight Gordon, and others. Among those who offered their support to Prodigal was President of the Jamaica Federation of musicians Desi Young. He says he was not only there to represent his organisation but was a proud fan of the hardcore gospel reggae artiste. Soon after the man of the moment graced the stage thanking the Almighty and his fans for their continous support, he claimed that Half Way There is an acknowledgment and a celebration of the Christian walk. "This album is a testament to the fact that as Christians we are on a road that leads us to perfection. It doesn't happen overnight and there will be stumbling blocks along the way. But as long as we recognise that we are halfway there, that is enough assurance and encouragement for us to continue the rest of our journey," Prodigal is quoted as saying. To excited and energetic fans, the 'Radical Prodical' delivered his hit singles Journeys, Real life, Gospel fi Preach up a Bongo Town, Just God and a duet with female gospel artiste Teena Tamara. After a Carlton Brown wardrobe change, a dapper-looking Prodigal and members of his musical team continued their spirited performance.
