Dear Lady Lou,

I have known Jerome for the past year now. We are very good friends and are intimately involved. We promised each other we will always tell the truth even if it hurts, and to that we still hold. However, when we start to get close and the possibility of getting serious comes up, he starts distancing himself. But again, when I sort out my feelings and move on, he comes back until we get to the same point. I am really confused and I don't know where we are heading. Our time together is the happiest and he always says to me I make him feel happy in his heart. I also feel a very strong soul connection with him. Help!

I think that you keep going back to him hoping he will offer you a commitment. However, if this back and forth keeps happening you will realize that you have to make a decision, one that is best for you and your self-worth.

It is good that you two share this bond and are accepting of one another, but I am afraid that as time goes by, this will not be the case. In this experience, it is important that you learn that you cannot change the way someone feels. While he may care about you very much, he will not be able to accept the many wonderful gifts that await him until he feels worthy of having them.
