Miss Brave Dange, Miss Comme Ci Comme Ca and Miss Dingolay
For more than two months the country has witnessed as they overcame the many challenges that stood in their way, to turn from princesses into queens. Everyone had a favourite, and up until the night of Sunday 22 August, were waiting with crossed fingers and bated breath to see who would come out on top.

The results have finally come in and the waiting is over. The Magnificent Seven have been crowned and three of these beautiful ladies have been chosen to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Earth pageants in 2005.

The winners are:

Miss TT/Universe – Cheryl Ankrah (Miss Comme Ci Comme Ca)

Miss TT/World – Kenisha Thom (Miss Dingolay)

Miss TT/Earth – Jenna Marie Andre (Miss Brave Dange)

The results for the four other titles, specifically Miss Caribe Hibiscus, Miss Maja Mundial, Miss Caravel and Queen of the Caribbean will be announced in two weeks.

Hundreds turned out at Queen’s Hall in St Ann’s on Sunday night to lend their support to their favourites. The ladies made four appearances, once in garbage bag creations, then in swimwear from In Collection and wraps from Heather Jones. Their next two appearances were in suits from Front Row and finally in evening gowns from a host of local designers including Claudia Pegas, Heather Jones, Pete Primus, Meiling and newcomer Prem.

In the end, three received the judges’ nods and came out on top. Eleven other awards were given out for various titles. They are:

Miss Perfit Personal Style: Cheryl Ankrah (Miss Comme Ci Comme Ca)

Miss Photogenic: Shawna Maharaj (Miss Chantwell)

Kenisha Thom (Miss Dingolay) and Shawna Maharaj (Miss Chantwell) were also the recipients of Gayelle internships, which entitles them to their own shows on Gayelle TV.

Adrian Raymond, a member of Peter Elias and Associates which co-ordinated the event and was responsible for the Magnificent Seven delegates, could hardly contain his joy at the show’s success. Thus far, he revealed, he had only received rave reviews from those who attended.

Raymond, who was the mentor for the Magnificent Seven during their months of preparation for the pageant, spoke highly of his girls and expressed his gratitude for the designers who came all out in providing designs for the delegates as well as for fashion segments during appearances.

“The show was completely sold out,” he said. “We chose to have different fashion segments featuring designs from a host of local designers. One young designer in particular Prem from South, received good reviews. This was basically his coming out event.”
