Iwer GeorgeTrini Bashment 91.9FM, Trinidad and Tobago’s newest radio station which is owned and operated by soca artist, Iwer George, began testing last week out of Point Fortin, George’s hometown.

The station will feature 24 hours of soca music, seven days a week, as well as news from Point Fortin, international news, sports and entertainment news.

George explained that one of the station’s aims was to provide its listeners with good news. The station, he said would be known as the “happy station.”

He further revealed that Point Fortin had been chosen as the base for the station because it was “virgin territory,” as compared to Port-of-Spain, which is saturated with radio stations.

George maintained that his job as manager of the station would in no way affect his singing career. In fact, he revealed plans to release a new album in time for Carnival 2005.

Trini Bashment will be officially launched on September 30 at the station’s location at 51 Main Road, Point Fortin, from 9am. There will also be a concert at Chin Kitt Park on October 1 from 4pm to 8pm, which will feature 40 artists and groups.

George is also planning a motorcade for October 3 through Point Fortin to increase the awareness of the station’s existence.

Trini Bashment will be streamed live on the internet on www.pointalive.com.
