Abebele at the late Lord Blakie's funeral

On Friday 15, April, Saparia-based Sunrise Mission Foundation will host 'Extempo 2k5,' a tribute to the late Beginner and Lion, former exponents in the artform. In the buildup to the show Secondary schools in the area (St Patrick district) will participate in extempo workshops, conducted by Big B and Abebele, at the foundations Oropouche Road headquarters on Thursday 24, March at 10am.

Workshop participants will learn about Beginner (Frederick Taylor) and Lion (Hamilton Charles), who were fondly known as the Siparia Extempo twins, and the origin of extempo. The workshops will prepare partciapants for an extempo competition which will be held during the show.

The show which is scheduled for 7pm at the Siparia Boys RC School, includes performances by 2005 Extempo Monarch Sheldon John, Big B, Abebele, Lingo, Black Sage and Lady Africa and the extempo competition.
