The loss of female vocalist 'Soca Queen' Alison Hinds, the decline in employment opportunities, the employment of Bassist Paul Slater by a cruise liner Royal Caribbean for six months; two other members have retained an attorney to address certain grievances and Anderson 'Blood' Armstrong is focusing on his own recording company - Redhead Records, have all taken a toll on the band.
Established in 1987, the top Caribbean band has gone on an unprecedented sabbatical after management declared that it was "restructuring and looking for additional members." In a recent press release band management indicated that the sabbatical would not affect Square One's Crop-Over 2005 duties, as the band would be touring before the festival starts.
The press release also stated that the time off was to allow members to "recharge their batteries after almost ten years of continuous touring" and for the band to restructure.
Miss Shooshooing has been told that Square One fans can look forward to new faces when the band resurfaces.
