Janet Jackson
You read it here on islandevents.com first and now it has been confirmed. Superstar Janet Jackson is coming to T&T. At a press conference on January 18 Tri Star Promotions's Roy Maraj announced that the young sister of Michael Jackson will be here for the Soca Warriors fete scheduled for February 11.

"She is coming with an entourage which includes her husband Jermaine Dupri and of course her manager," said Maraj, who added the fete will benefit the team players.

He added that the party will afford locals a chance to meet with the players of the team in a party setting and get a chance to see Jackson as well.

Jackson is also expected to introduced the bands as they come onstage.

She is also scheduled to appear at Machel Montano's Alternative Concept concert on February 18.

The 39 year old Jackson has never been to Trinidad but her father Joe and brother Jackie came to town a few years ago to scout for new location for their film company.

Nothing ever came out of the visit however.

Jackson, born May 16, 1966 in Gary, Indiana, is an American pop, R&B and soul singer-songwriter, dancer, actress, icon, and the youngest child of the famed Jackson music family.

Breaking away from the shadows of her brothers, Jackson now ranks as the ninth most successful artist in the history of rock and roll, and is the youngest artist in the top ten of that group, according to Billboard magazine in 2004, and has gone to sell over 130 million albums and singles worldwide. Her high-octane choreography, music videos and pop appeal has influenced some of today's younger female singers including Beyonce Knowles, Brandy, Britney Spears, Ashanti & Christina Aguilera.
