Kerron James
Keron James is an R&B singer/ Entertainment lawyer, who released his first single the groovy, Soca-flavored, "So Hot" in May.

James took things up a notch with the accompanying video and is currently putting the finishing touches on his next single; a spicy selection, entitled "Dip".

The "So Hot" video is currently raising the bar on Synergy TV's "De Scene" Top 10 countdown, while the song itself has been creating waves internationally.

"When we released "So Hot", we sent it to everyone in our network," James revealed, "both here and overseas. Since then, we received good reviews all around and a few weeks ago I got a call from a friend, who told me that she found the song on a compilation CD in Europe!"

A quick search on google.com displayed three different websites providing access to "So Hot". Two of these sites place the song in the Dance/Pop category, listing it on a compilation CD (Goldesel Hits Vol 89), alongside international hits such as Christina Aguilera's "Aint No Other Man", Faith Hill's "Sunshine and Summertime" and the Foo Fighters' "Miracle".

The third site classifies "So Hot" as a dancehall track available for download and review through this online portal. Having discovered this information, James was pleasantly surprised, while professionally concerned at the same time.

"It's a strange kind of position to be in," he admits, "especially with me being a lawyer and an artiste too. On one hand, I'm happy that my music is being appreciated to that extent and that it's reaching overseas, but on the business side of things, I know that no one on my team sanctioned the use of the song in that manner. So, my lawyer is looking into it and I'm sure we'll find a resolution to everyone's benefit."

Meanwhile, James' songwriting skills are being explored by members of the local music fraternity. Several of his compositions have already been licensed by popular artistes and will be released for Carnival 2007. With the season fast-approaching, it's only a matter of time before these songs and their new owners are revealed to the public. Until then, their identities will remain confidential.
