Buju Banton's label Gargamel Music is pleased to announce that the biggest tune in Jamaica right now is Buju's "Driver A," an album cut available solely on his Grammy-nominated new project Too Bad.
A classic reality-tune laced with precision on Sly & Robbie's vintage Taxi riddim, "Driver A" has not been released on 7" or officially worked as a single — yet has garnered so much play in the dancehall, on the radio and by every cabbie in Kingston, that it has skyrocketed to the top of the local charts in just a few weeks.
RETV's Reggae chart has "Driver A" sitting fit at number 2 — this past week's greatest gainer in sales. The runaway hit is also the greatest gainer and "shot to watch" on Hype TV's Top 20 Reggae/Dancehall singles chart, gliding up two notches to number 4. On Jamaica's Weekly Top 30 Hit List, "Driver A" leaped from number 15 to its current place at number 5 and it moved up 6 spots to number 5 on Hitz 92's Top 20 Official Hitz From Yaad.
"Driver A" is the fifth single featured on Banton's stellar “Too Bad” album to blow up backayard this year. Additional chart-toppers include "Me & Oonu," "Til It Bend," Hey Boy" (aka "Talk To Me") and "Nothing."
Buju is scheduled to headline the annual Guinness Sting concert on December 26th at the Jamworld Entertainment Complex in Portmore Jamaica. This hotly anticipated performance will be Banton's first on-island since the release of his critically acclaimed new album.
