The St Lucia Tourist Board has organized a celebration of cultures and music from Canada, England, Kenya and New Zealand over the next few days. The event is called “Rhythms and Culture” and will take place at different venues around the island. These countries are part of Group C in the Cricket World Cup.
These four countries will showcase their indigenous music alongside St Lucian entertainment in a melting pot of rhythms and dance traditions. Maria Fowell, Director of Tourism for St Lucia says the idea is to highlight the diversity of the various cultures represented by the myriad of visitors to the island in a unifying effort, while promoting St Lucia as a premium destination.
The St Lucian performers will include Barbara Cadet, Ronald Boo Hinkson, Nyabinghi Dancers, Virtex, Off Island, West Coast Band, Helen Folk Dancers and Carl Gustave.
