Reggae icon Buju Banton will play the theater at Madison Square Garden on Sunday May 6th, the event is being billed as a “Pre-Mother’s Day Driver Concert.”

The show is being promoted by veteran Caribbean radio personality and entrepreneur Dahved Levy through his Devonish Promotions Company, with partners GB God Bless and Don Grant of Harlem’s Roti Plus. Levy was also responsible for the Machel Montano 25th Anniversary concert at that same venue.

“Buju Banton is an exceptional live performer who still has the ability to capture new audiences musically,” says Levy, who together with Grant was the first promoter to bring Banton alongside Beres Hammond to the world famous arena over a decade ago. "Right now he has two songs playing on mainstream radio in New York with 'Traffic Jam' and of course, his smash hit 'Driver A' from the latest album “Too Bad."

Since its release last fall on Banton's own Gargamel Music label, “Too Bad” has received praise from a gaggle of prestigious media outlets such as Associated Press, Billboard, The Beat, Jamrock, The LA Times, Riddim, Rolling Stone, San Francisco Chronicle — and it nabbed a 2007 Grammy nod for Best Reggae Album. Last month Banton was nominated for nine International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA), including Entertainer of the Year, Recording Artist of the Year, Best Song for "Driver A" and Best Album for Too Bad.

Buju and his Shiloh Band are guaranteed to electrify Madison Square Garden with blazing dancehall cuts from the new album as well as older classics and roots selections from the critically acclaimed collections “Mr. Mention,” “'Til Shiloh,” “Inna Heights,” “Unchained Spirit” and “Friends For Life.”

Buju will also be perfroming in Tobago on April 7th and the following day in Trinidad April 8th.
