T.I. is truly “King," the rapper is leading the pack of recently announced nominees for this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards.

He tops the list of this year's contenders with nine nominations, followed by Lil' Wayne with seven nods, Kanye West with six, five for Common, Jay-Z is up for four awards, and Ludacris and 50 Cent each snag three nominations.

T.I. was a top winner in BET's first Hip-Hop Awards last year, when he picked up awards for three of his eight nominations.

Now, in their second year, BET will head back to Atlanta, GA for the show, which is scheduled to air October 17. Comedian Katt Williams will reprise his role as host for the second annual awards.

BET has also revealed that Nelly, Lil' Wayne, Kanye West and Common will perform at the event. As part of the show, the network will also honor KRS-One with the "I Am Hip-Hop" icon award.

The 2nd Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards are scheduled to air on October 17 at 8 p.m. on the cable network.
