The Florida Caribbean Students Association (FCSA) will host its 34th Bi-Annual Conference at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami on April 4 – 6, 2008. The theme of the Spring Conference will be "Fusion: Exploring the Possibilities."

Over eight hundred (800) students from Florida, Georgia and as far away as North Carolina and New Jersey will converge on the campus of FIU to participate in professional and personal development workshops, socials, a talent showcase, and family day, among other activities. “The spring conference is one of the main events in the FCSA calendar, and this year promises to be a truly exhilarating educational experience. Each conference attendee is guaranteed to benefit from this fusion of Caribbean cultures,” stated Max James, vice-president, Florida Caribbean Students Association.

Registered participants will be inspired by the numerous activities and events that will focus on the solidarity of the Caribbean community. This weekend event will be geared towards examining the boundless possibilities stemming from the Conference theme. Nifara K. Ali, Ph.D., a motivational speaker and mentor, is the intriguing feature speaker for the Opening Ceremony. The Conference will also welcome respected business, political and community leaders from Florida and around the Caribbean.

The Conference will also include the FCSA executive board elections and the annual Miss FCSA Pageant entitled, “A Beautiful Mind: The Union between Caribbean Intelligence and Beauty.” There will also be a Career Fair, and workshops such as “The British Caribbean versus the Rest” and “The Federation, CARICOM and the CSME.” For reservations or more information, contact Tamika Johnson, Conference Director, at fiucsa.conference08@yahoo.com, call (954) 483-6133, or visit www.fcsainc.org.

Founded in 1991, the Florida Caribbean Students Association (FCSA) is an umbrella organization which mobilizes all "Caribbean Students' Associations" in the Florida university and college system for a bi-annual conference in the Fall and Spring of each year for professional and personal development workshops, socials, and other activities. FCSA consists of all "Caribbean Students' Associations", including, but not limited to, all the named country associations at each university and/or college (e.g. Bahamian Club, Haitian Student Association, or Jamaica Club, etc.).
