The Caribbean is also weighing in heavily on the U.S. presidential election, as a slew of Barack Obama-inspired songs are popping up across the islands.
Of all the Obama-themed songs, the most popular is a song entitled "Barack the Magnificent" by Trinidadian Calypso legend Mighty Sparrow, a pioneer of the genre who is wildly popular throughout the Caribbean.
With a talking point ripped straight out of the DNC playbook, Sparrow sings; "The respect of the world we now lack/If you want it back, vote Barack."
But Sparrow does not stop there, name-checking the Baker-Hamilton report, the Jack Abramoff scandal, Walter Reed Hospital and even singing "on the Senate Vets Affairs committee he is a giant."
Jamaican artist Cocoa Tea also offers his own tribute to the Illinois Senator, with a reggae-twinged tribute to the Democratic nominee entitled "Barack Obama."
Cocoa Tea offers his own unique take on the nomination process, singing; "It is not Hillary Clinton...It is not John McCain...It is not Chuck Norris, and I know it is not John Wayne...It is the new trend setter, Barack Obama!"
Self professed "Gangster for Life" even did a track in honour of the Illinois Senator for called " We Need Barack" on the DJ Green Lantern and Russell Simmons mixtape.
While the songs may be all in good fun, calypsonian Roger George - who is working on his own Obama-themed song - told the Miami Herald in April not to discount the power of the Caribbean constituency, especially in a key swing state like Florida.
"Every voice makes a difference and if we can all come together as a Caribbean unit, then we can make a huge difference," he said.
