The Turks and Caicos Islands 4th Annual Turks and Caicos International Film Festival, originally scheduled to take place October 15-18, 2008 has been cancelled.

The announcement, was made on Tuesday by the Executive Chairman of the Turks and Caicos Islands Board of Tourism, Wayne Garland. The reason for teh cancellation is because of the tough economic times globally, and particularly in the United States, because of this the committee felt it was prudent to cancel this year's festival.

The festival, whose mission is to celebrate and reflect cultural diversity through cinema and honor and recognize filmmakers who use their art to celebrate humanity, has tentatively been rescheduled for October.21-24, 2009.

The 5th Annual Turks and Caicos Music and Cultural Festival will still be taking place, July 28 - August 4, 2008, in Providenciales, featuring performances by Lionel Richie, Anita Baker, LL Cool J, T-Pain and Ne-Yo.
