Standing on the frontline are twenty-two-year-old twin brothers, Barry and Bruce Chandler who are these days sharing lead vocals with Trinidadian singer, Tracey Assing who has proven to be a big hit with the Bajan soca lovers. Judging from the reaction of the audiences at events the band performed at during the climax of this year's Crop Over, Jabae has in its two-year existence become the Bajan equivalent to Xtatik delivering high energy performances laced with variety.
This year's runaway hit "Flames," with which they captured both the Party Monarch and Tune Of The Crop titles was composed by ace producer, Neil Bernard. Although they claimed no titles at last year's Crop Over Jabae still enjoyed a great season with "We Dey Oh," which was composed by Kernel Roberts. The band is also known for delivering spot on covers of soca, reggae and other material making them sound just as the original artiste would and in some cases better than.
Over its two years Jabae has also provided accompaniment for the likes of soca artistes; Faye Ann Lyons, KMC, Shurwayne Winchester, Dawg-E-Slaughter, Denise Belfon, and Benjai as well as for Jamaican reggae acts Elephant Man and Pinchers. The young musicians also look up to Edwin Yearwood and Krosfyah with whom they have shared the stage many times over. Like Jabae, Krosfyah started out as a group of youths that shared a passion for music.
Now that Crop Over 2006 is past the band begins preparations for the coming New York Labour Day celebrations at the beginning of September. Jabae is also scheduled to be in Trinidad for Carnival 2007 and they are looking forward to being a part of the, "Greatest Carnival there is."
