Back-to-Back bacchanal

Well next week holds my second most favourite day of the year: Fantastic Friday which I think is the most ingenious idea for branding an event. I have my tickets. I try on my outfit (my friends say is an outfat – thanks to the Christmas ham and pastelles) but I getting distracted like a real Friday evening gossiper!

I was talking about branding days and today will forever be remembered as Fiasco Friday as the news started sinking in about the brass and its alternative and the usurping of the venue and the marriage with the bust boy.

People start saying how "the boy" get the venue because of his affiliation with the party. They saying that no opposition could withstand the concept taking precedence over everything else carded for the state-owned venue, because the boy appearing at the party's party.

Meh head hot with rumours, but this is the inside "inside" story.

This scenario requires definition which can only come by saying, at the outset, that popular belief is the brass "downfall" started six years ago when "the boy" took offense to a performance line-up decision and finally Fiasco Friday: D Day of Triumph!

The real story begins with the first event hanging off a cliff, facing a heavy fall because ticket sales were slow. Meanwhile, the alternative event was not pleased with the savannah venue, and, as soon as the first booking at the stadium looked shaky, the astute management snatched the venue, and that is how we going to the stadium this Saturday.

The third event carded for Carnival Saturday was heading for bust and like a true cliff hanger, the two promoters got together with a glowing idea to merge. Hence B2B – and you should hear Trini brand that one! People say: bust-to-bust and some people were still less flattering. For my part, I wish them a good marriage.

But you know you can't shut up Trinis. So, this evening at my usual liming spot, after I quelled all rumours about the brass-faced move, they turned on the young star.

You should hear them again. "This was the wrong year for the 'biggest event ever'. How the youngster should take his darling for an extended honeymoon. How he choose the year of little lyrics to stage the event. How the vows would have made a better song than anything else on the album."

They so evil in this place eh!
