St. George's College Old Boy Association Takes Ziadie Memorial Cup

St. George's College Old Boy Association of South Florida (STGCFL) defeated the Jamaica College Old Boys Association of South Florida (JCOBAFL) 3-1 in the 4th Annual Dennis Ziadie Memorial Cup.

 

With over 600 spectators STGCFL defended their crown for the 4th year in a row to claim the coveted Ziadie Memorial Cup trophy.  The STGCFL team included all the sons of Dennis Ziadie.

 

The JCOBAFL team scored a goal just before half time. In the second half STGCFL equalized and then went ahead scoring 2 other goals. Chris Ziadie was presented with the “Man of the match the trophy”. Halftime showcased the soccer skills of the ladies in the All Girls Schools Alumni Penalty Kick-off sponsored by Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union.  Participating in the kick-off were: Convent of Mercy Academy “ALPHA”, Immaculate Con. High School Alumnae Association, Queen’s High School Alumni Association, St. Andrew High Old Girls Association, St. Hugh’s Alumnae Association of South Florida, Montego Bay High School Alumnae Assoc South Florida and Holy Childhood High School Alumnae.

 

Grace Kennedy Remittance Services/ Western Union donated $100 to the winning school, Montego Bay High School Alumnae Assoc South Florida.
The JCOBAFL and STGCFL senior team match ended in a 1-1 draw.

 

The Annual soccer match between JCOBAFL and STGCFL is in memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories. This year will mark the 22nd year of the death of Dennis Ziadie in a car crash in Mexico at the 1986 World Cup.
