A vote on whether Zimbabwe should be suspended from the International Cricket Council could be postponed until Thursday.
The two-day ICC meeting got under way in Dubai on Wednesday but the controversial vote may not take place.
The England and Wales and South African Cricket Boards have already cut ties with Zimbabwe.
But support for Zimbabwe is growing in the sub-continent with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka set to back them.
For Zimbabwe to have their full member status removed, at least seven of the 10 members at the board meeting would need to support the expulsion.
But if the Asia countries side with Zimbabwe, who also have a vote, the proposal would be defeated.
Meantime, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) up until late yesterday was undecided how they would vote.
Dr Hunte and CEO of the WICB, Dr Donald Peters are in Dubai for the meeting and will share the views of the West Indies.
Last year, the WICB refused to send a West Indies ‘A’ team to Zimbabwe fearing for the players’ safety.
Zimbabwe cricket managing director Ozias Bvute has urged the ICC not to impose sanctions.
